Beacon Hill in 1902

The Bulletin of the Scientific Society of San Antonio published in January 1914 has an article by Bernard Mackensen entitled 'An Experiment in Dry-Land Orcharding.' In this article Mr. Mackensen states 'The plat selected for the experiment is situated in a slight depression on an eastern slopes of a high hill (Beacon Hill) in the northern Suburbs of San Antonio. Mr. Mackensen also includes a photo of the site before he began orcharding.
